Daily Deviation

Given 2011-09-05
Suggester Says: This incredibly powerful image was borne out of a personal circumstance. The photographer, due to a leg injury, has spent the last week on crutches and effectively immobile. The realization of the difficulty faced by people with a disability has had a powerful and, i believe permanent effect on the artist. This image was born out of that awareness....

I am an amputee (right leg and half my pelvis) and I've been using crutches like these for two and a half years. This illustrates how I feel about my circumstances so well.

This is really powerful. One of my friends had to get her leg amputated last year and this reminds me so much of what she struggles with now.

Love it, the concept is established very quickly for me, but still subtle enough to be very both a very good photo and a thought provoking piece

The symmetry is spot-on. It's amazing how the low lighting gives it such power.

I've lived with a chronic disability for a very long time, thankfully, I don't need crutches, but pain can make it just as slow and just as frustrating. More so, actually, because people can see crutches, they can't see pain. This was a really good thing to do.
